In March 2020, when he was 17 years old and COVID-19 lock downs were just beginning, my brother Hardie was out mountain biking. He was taking normal safety precautions, including wearing a helmet, when his bike lost traction and he hit a tree head-first.
As a result of the accident, Hardie broke his neck at the C4, C5, and C6 vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed. Today, he attends physical therapy several times a week as he continues working to regain motor function.
He has made meaningful progress so far, but his recovery journey is far from over. We are deeply grateful for all of the support our community has shown us thus far.
In December 2025, Hardie graduated online from Arizona State University with Honors. An article published by ASU that shares more about Hardie’s educational journey can be found here.
