For over a decade I have volunteered with the Fair Haven Volunteer Fire Department and First Aid Squad, which is a 100% volunteer emergency services organization serving Fair Haven and the surrounding area. I first got involved through community service at the annual Firemen’s Fair. That eventually led me to join as a Fire Cadet at age 14. I stayed in the Cadet Program until I turned 18, at which point I officially swore into the First Aid Squad.

Since then I have responded to hundreds of emergency calls each year as part of the department’s average of 400 to 500 medical and fire related responses. We provide trained care as an EMTs and EMRs and respond to both medical and fire scenes.

My involvement is not limited to emergency calls. I also serve on several internal committees and positions that help the department operate and serve the public. This includes serving as a Co-Director of IT, and sitting on the following committees: Public Relations, Media, Engineering, Uniform, and EMS Cadets. In these roles I help improve communication, maintain equipment and technology, support member training, and uphold professional standards for appearance and safety.

I am also involved in the Cadet Program from the leadership side. I help younger members learn basic skills, understand how the department works, and get comfortable in a volunteer emergency services environment. Since I started as a Cadet myself, I take a lot of pride in helping the next group grow and stay engaged.

Across both response and committee work, I am grateful for the chance to serve the Fair Haven Fire Company and its associated organizations. The goal is simple: protect lives and property, support our community, and maintain a high level of professionalism in an all-volunteer system.
